Dear Papa Wilson,
Happy Fathers Day. I thought I should tell you some things that other people know but I may not have ever told you. First of all you are my hero. You’ve been my hero ever since I was a little girl. I'm sorry if I don't always treat you with the respect that a hero should have. I'm going to work on that real hard in the future. There are definitely moments over the years that weren’t so fantastic and that I probably resented you for at the time. There’s no need to go over old stuff, though. Apart from of what I thought or felt at the moment, I am sure that those experiences only helped me to become into the girl that I am today.
I wanted to write this to tell you thank you. Our family has been good about expressing our feelings in a positive way. We are yellers, shouters, and bad language(ers). Which is the first thing I wanted to thank you for.
We’re best friends. We have our fights. Some last longer than others, but at the end of the day I know that you will always be there for me no matter how mad we may be with one another at the time.
Well Dad, I could keep going here, but I think you can get the idea by now of where I hope to be going in the future with myself. Thank you for always supporting me, whether you agreed with the choices I made or not. Thank you for giving me that good balance of a parent ”friend.” I always knew that I could come to you to talk, but I also knew that there would be consequences for any poor decisions that I chose to make. Please don't hesitate to let me know if I am ever out of line in the years to come. I love all your support and love that helps me when I do stupid things. Getting wiser is easier with your guidanced help.
I love you,
Your daughter Haley
